Corktown - Detroit's oldest and one of its most colorful neighborhoods -will be the subject of a special presentation 

                          Thursday, September 12,

           at the Hamtramck Historical Museum


Author and historian Armando Delicato will Presentation his program on this fascinating area of Detroit. From the mid-19th century onward, Corktown has been a pillar Detroit.

Driven to emigrate by the Irish potato famine of the 1840's, many Irish persons settled on the near west side of Detroit in the area that became known as Corktown. Today it has become a trendy neighborhood and highly desirable place to live.

The presentation is part of the museum's Hungry for History program that looks at various aspects of local history. A corned beef sandwich dinner with sides will be available.
